The natural response for the average person is to give up, or change course when things continue to go south. In the first part of chapter 4, Paul tells us that in addition to everything else working against his ministry, the “god” of this world has blinded many of the people he is trying to reach. His answer to us...through it all Jesus is the light that breaks forth out of the Darkness.
